Srinagar, Aug 19: The High Court has sought information from the Government with regard to non-availability of certain life-saving drugs in Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar.<\/p>\n
Follow the Daily Excelsior channel on WhatsApp\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n This information has been sought by the Division Bench of Chief Justice Arun Palli and Justice Rajnesh Oswal after the counsel T H Khawaja submitted before the court that after a lapse of nearly seven months, certain anti-haemophilic drugs were released and made available to the college\/hospital.
He, however, added that there still continues to be complete non-availability of other essential life-saving drugs like Factor VIII and Von willebrand factor drugs. He with the proof of documents apprised the court that owing to non-availability of Factor IX, around 51 patients remained untreated in the hospital.
Advocate Waseem Gul on behalf of the Government said these patients, whose details have been placed before the court, would be provided immediate medical care\/attention and every possible endeavor shall be made to procure Factor IX drugs to avert any consequential, medical complications and tragedy.
In this connection a direction is sought upon the authorities at the helm of affairs to immediately ensure uninterrupted availability and supply of anti-haemophilic drugs and such other essential clotting factor concentrates to Government Medical College, Srinagar and all other designated treatment centers across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir
It is further sought that a direction for release, without any further delay, the entire quantity of anti-haemophilic drugs lying stocked with Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd to the concerned hospitals, in furtherance of the annual and supplementary requisitions already raised.<\/p>\n
