Sunday\u2019s pay per view blockbuster has been thrown into absolute chaos after American co-main event fighter Stephen Fulton missed weight by a ludicrous six pounds on Saturday morning. <\/p>\n
Fulton tipped the scales at the official weigh ins at 139.5 pounds \u2013 a ludicrous nine pounds over the super-featherweight limit, and still six pounds over the catchweight limit both fighters agreed upon on Friday. <\/p>\n
Fulton requested a late-notice weight change after saying he \u201cwould have died\u201d making the initial super-featherweight limit. <\/p>\n
The change-up meant the bout was no longer a WBA world title eliminator, with Wilson\u2019s camp agreeing to the weight change to keep the fight together as Sunday\u2019s co-main event.<\/p>\n
Those plans have now gone up in smoke <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s disgraceful,\u201d a No Limit spokesman said. \u201cFulton is the most unprofessional boxer we have ever dealt with in 10 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe already made allowances for him because the fight was at 130 pounds, and we agreed to go up to 133.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut to come in at 139 is a joke. <\/p>\n
\u201cLiam Wilson still wants to take this fight because he is such a warrior, but six pounds over is unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite Wilson\u2019s willingness to step into the ring at the higher weight, his team is playing it safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have a responsibility to look after Liam and his family,\u201d Wilson\u2019s coach, Ben Harrington said. \u201cHe\u2019s almost 140 pounds, it\u2019s supposed to be 133. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe had no intention of making weight. <\/p>\n
\u201cNo effort made at all. What a let down.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to work out what to do.\u201d <\/p>\n
Wilson\u2019s manager, Glen Jennings was furious. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis feels like an absolute stitch up,\u201d he said. \u201cWe sign a contract at 130, there\u2019s an expectation you will deliver. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s totally unacceptable and a blight on the sport. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is unprofessional. There\u2019s nowhere to go for this bloke now.\u201d <\/p>\n
At the time of writing, Fulton still had time to drop some weight and make the fight happen, although that looks unlikely. <\/p>\n
There have been discussions about adding a late-notice heavyweight fight to the undercard in its place.<\/p>\n
If it gets taken off the card, it is the second co-main event fight to be scrapped in the space of just seven days after Jermall Charlo was denied a visa. <\/p>\n
