Chisel singer Andy Lutze reveals cancer diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not even advanced prostate cancer and \u201cheavy hormone blockers\u201d is stopping the frontman of a tribute act for one of Australia\u2019s most beloved bands from belting out the classics on stage in front of his adoring fans.<\/p>\n<p>For the last quarter of a century, Andy Lutze, of Bacchus Marsh, has performed iconic tunes including like Flame Trees and Khe Sanh \u2014 across the country as the lead singer of Cold Chisel tribute band \u201cGold Chisel\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>And a \u201cbrutal\u201d cancer diagnosis was not going to stop him from doing what he loves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone was telling me you have to stop performing, but it hasn\u2019t affected my voice and when I\u2019m on that stage it\u2019s the only time where my life feels normal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerforming is the therapy I need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He even recently played in Papua New Guinea and the Whitsundays with the band.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lutze received the \u201cdebilitating\u201d news that he had four cancerous tumours on his prostate in October last year, with the cancer spreading to his hip.<\/p>\n<p>By that time the cancer had already reached an \u201cadvanced\u201d stage 3, meaning he had to be hauled in for heavy treatment, including androgen deprivation therapy (or hormone blockers) to lower his testosterone levels and slow the cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Not only does the treatment \u201cstop your muscles from working\u201d but includes side effects like short term memory loss and significant anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDepression becomes depression tenfold &#8230; everything becomes amplified,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lutze will also undergo 60 days of radiation, putting his work as a freelance video editor and cameraman on hold.<\/p>\n<p>He has also had to cut back on Gold Chisel gigs.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite the tough few months ahead, Mr Lutzee has his sights set on his next show on October 3 at the Shoppingtown Hotel in Doncaster where he hopes to light up the stage like never before.<\/p>\n<p>He said playing on stage with the band and \u201cdelivering something loved by Australians\u201d was \u201creally motivating\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Long time friend Ken Bell set up an <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/working-class-man-9asnq?utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&amp;utm_content=amp20_t1&amp;utm_medium=customer&amp;utm_source=email&amp;lang=en_AU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">online fundraiser <\/a>to help Mr Lutze pay for his treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bell said the Gold Chisel frontman\u2019s \u201cenergy\u201d was \u201camazing\u201d whenever he got on stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s what he does best,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>A fundraiser concert has also been organised by the band \u201cRat Pack\u201d, which will donate money raised at its
