{"id":826463,"date":"2026-07-27T07:21:52","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T07:21:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/826463\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T07:21:52","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T07:21:52","slug":"panthers-being-investigated-by-nflpa-after-nic-scourtons-acl-tear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/826463\/","title":{"rendered":"Panthers being investigated by NFLPA after Nic Scourton&#8217;s ACL tear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Panthers are being investigated by the NFL Players Association after linebacker Nic Scourton <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/23\/sports\/panthers-nic-scourton-in-tears-as-hes-carted-off-with-injury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">suffered a season-ending ACL tear<\/a> on the first day of training camp last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since the injury occurred so quickly into training camp, the NFLPA is looking into the circumstances that led to it. <\/p>\n<p>The first few days of training camp are supposed to ease players into things with a mandatory five-day acclimatization period that does not allow for live contact during that stretch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40098428\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/walks-nfl-football-teams-training-135286523_e89425.jpg\" alt=\"Nic Scourton walks to NFL training camp.\" class=\"wp-image-40098428\"  \/>Nic Scourton is pictured July 23 at the Panthers\u2019 training camp. AP Photo\/Scott Kinser<\/p>\n<p>The only on-field activities that are allowed are running and conditioning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Charlotte Observer <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mike_e_kaye\/status\/2081377570629538099\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reported <\/a>that a team spokesperson said the Panthers were cooperating with the NFLPA\u2019s inquiry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re aware that they\u2019re looking into it,\u201d Canales said, <a href=\"https:\/\/pantherswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/panthers\/2026\/07\/26\/panthers-training-camp-dave-canales-investigation-nflpa-nic-scourton-injury\/91055913007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">per Panthers Wire<\/a>. \u201cWe have the rules, we have the standards, we let them know. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble told reporters on Sunday that it was \u201cjust a freak accident,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/josephperson\/status\/2081427728708895070?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Athletic reported.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel so bad for the kid because he worked his butt off this offseason and I think this was gonna be his best year yet,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t think it was anything on anyone\u2019s tempo, everyone\u2019s just trying to get better every day.
