Remove items from your saved list<\/a> to add more.<\/p>\n AAA<\/p>\n When he arrives for Wests Tigers training on Tuesday morning, one of the first things Adam Doueihi will do is stand in front of his teammates and explain the events of the past five days.<\/p>\n After a tumultuous week<\/a> culminated in a heavy defeat to the Raiders<\/a> that officially ended the Tigers\u2019 finals hopes, Doueihi arrived at the club\u2019s Concord HQ for peace talks with coach Benji Marshall just before 9am on Monday. He was in the passenger seat of a black Mercedes driven by his manager, Isaac Moses.<\/p>\n Doueihi and Marshall had not spoken since Thursday, when the coach told the Lebanese international he would be moving from halfback to lock for the clash in Canberra \u2013 prompting an angry Doueihi to stand down from the match.<\/p>\n Nobody was entirely sure what to expect when Doueihi and Moses entered the meeting room, where Marshall, Tigers chief executive Shaun Mielekamp and football manager Pat Richards were waiting.<\/p>\n It has been well documented that Doueihi was aggrieved at being asked to move out of his preferred position, rather than the Parramatta-bound Jarome Luai, to accommodate rookie playmaker Javon Andrews.<\/a><\/p>\n The 27-year-old was already cranky with Marshall, having tried unsuccessfully for several days to get a straight answer out of the coach as to where he would start against the Raiders.<\/p>\n So tensions were high when the pair caught up on Thursday, and Doueihi took the chance to tell Marshall he was fed up with what he saw as a lack of professionalism and accountability at the club, which was about to play a part in them missing a 15th consecutive finals campaign.<\/p>\n Doueihi knew he was not in the right headspace to play. He also knew he would have to deal with the consequences moving forward. But if his drastic action shone a light on the bigger problems at the Tigers, Doueihi figured it would be worth it.<\/p>\n The immediate question is, what happens next?<\/p>\n Does Marshall name Doueihi for the clash against Parramatta on Sunday?<\/p>\n Will he be forced to return via reserve grade, which Doueihi has indicated he is prepared to do?<\/p>\n Will he stay at the Tigers beyond this season?<\/a><\/p>\n At least one source close to Doueihi said on the weekend that, despite being contracted until the end of 2029, Doueihi had been prepared to ask for an early release if Marshall and the Tigers had entered Monday\u2019s meeting in a combative mood.<\/p>\n There were also whispers over the weekend that someone from Doueihi\u2019s camp had approached Perth Bears coach Mal Meninga about signing for their inaugural NRL season next year. Meninga could not be contacted for comment.<\/p>\n At least one person connected to the Tigers was informed the Queensland Reds Super Rugby team was interested in Doueihi. But a Reds official said there had been no approach to the player, and the club was already well stocked with centres heading into next year.<\/p>\n News Corp reported on Monday that Doueihi\u2019s relationship with the Tigers was \u201cunfixable\u201d, and that he could no longer play under Marshall.<\/p>\n That did not go down well with some \u2013 including former Tigers player and one of Marshall\u2019s good friends, Beau Ryan, who blasted the report as \u201cfake news and dogshit journalism\u201d on his breakfast show on Triple M.<\/p>\n News Corp executives were so angry at Ryan\u2019s comments they threatened to ban their journalists from appearing on Triple M\u2019s podcasts and various radio programs.<\/p>\n The Tigers have always punched above their weight when it comes to keeping rugby league in the news cycle.<\/p>\n That may have explained why some of the rusted-on supporters at the cafe adjoining the training facility barely turned their heads when half a dozen TV cameras set up next to them in the hope of capturing vision of Doueihi or Marshall.<\/p>\n Mielekamp agreed to front the cameras with a prepared statement, which lasted all of 20 seconds.<\/p>\n Related Article \u201cIt was a very positive and productive meeting,\u201d he said. \u201cAdam will be at training tomorrow, which is a very good sign. What\u2019s really important is what is said in that room stays in that room, that\u2019s important for us as a club. We\u2019re all doing what\u2019s best for the club.\u201d<\/p>\n Bizarrely, Mielekamp received a pat on the back from a Tigers official for fronting the cameras and leaving the press pack with more questions than answers.<\/p>\n The players will return to training on Tuesday, with the media welcome to film the start of the session.<\/p>\n The team sheet for the Parramatta game will be made official at 4pm, with Marshall scheduled to explain his selections on Wednesday.<\/p>\n It has been suggested Doueihi will have to apologise to the playing group for sitting out the embarrassing 56-10 loss to Canberra. Some of his teammates\u2019 defensive efforts were well below NRL standard, and Marshall conceded after the game that the Doueihi headlines and news of Luai\u2019s early departure the week before had taken a toll on the group.<\/p>\n The Tigers may have hoped Monday\u2019s meeting would draw a line under the episode.
