\u201cI\u2019ll just quickly repeat what happened,\u201d Lyon began. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou leave the box (post-game), talk to the coaches, then there\u2019s family and getting people into the rooms, and then you go and talk to your players, come out, and then go to the media conference. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I said to Lenny (Hayes, Saints football boss) – this is the exact (conversation) – I said, \u2018Max King?\u2019 and he said, \u2018He\u2019s got a tight hammy, and he\u2019ll have a scan tomorrow\u2019. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I went, \u2018Is that it?\u2019 And he goes, \u2018That\u2019s it\u2019. So, I let it go. That\u2019s gospel. And then I walk in (to the press conference). <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like there\u2019s a disbelief that you haven\u2019t had a conversation. <\/p>\n
\u201cBear in mind, he (King) wasn\u2019t even in the building, which I didn\u2019t even know, because you\u2019ve got other priorities, and you\u2019re not diving into that level of detail. <\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t speak to the doctor, I didn\u2019t speak to the sports scientist, and I didn\u2019t speak to the physio, because it\u2019s not my job.\u201d<\/p>\n

King will miss the rest of the season with a left hamstring strain suffered in the win over the Kangaroos. <\/p>\n
Asked about the 26-year-old\u2019s mental state after yet another soft-tissue setback, Lyon said King was \u201creally devastated\u201d. <\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, we spoke today \u2026 and this won\u2019t surprise you, hopefully, but his concern was he\u2019d let the club and his teammates down,\u201d Lyon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd shame\u2019s too strong a word, but probably embarrassed and you know, like \u2018have you guys had enough of me?\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I said, \u2018hang on here, we\u2019re in.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we\u2019re on our knees, but we\u2019re not bowed.<\/p>\n
