Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy\u2019s wife was shot Sunday night and has been hospitalized, according to ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mia Bieniemy, 57, was shot at the couple\u2019s Virginia home while Eric was with the Chiefs at training camp in St. Joseph, Mo., according to the report. Loudoun County cops told ESPN a person was being treated for \u201cserious injuries,\u201d though the identity of the person wasn\u2019t confirmed.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s son Elijah Zion Bieniemy was arrested and charged <\/a>in connection to the shooting of his mother.<\/p>\n

Mia is reportedly in stable condition after being shot in the chest and arm, per ESPN Chiefs reporter Nate Taylor<\/a>, and Bieniemy left the Chiefs and did not attend Monday\u2019s practice to support his wife.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club is aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy\u2019s family,\u201d the Chiefs said in a statement to The Post. \u201cOut of respect for their privacy, we won\u2019t have a comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Chiefs brought back Bieniemy after three years away<\/a> from the team. He spent last season as the running backs coach for the Bears among Ben Johnson\u2019s staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2023, he left Kansas City to take on the offensive coordinator role with the Commanders, who went 4-13 with Sam Howell under center. Following that, he briefly had a college football coaching stint at UCLA for a year. <\/p>\n

The long-time coordinator has yet to receive a head coach gig in the NFL. <\/p>\n

If there was a time, it was expected after the 2022 season when Bieniemy had proved himself following five successful season in Kansas City including two Super Bowl wins in \u201919 and \u201922. <\/p>\n

Following a 6-11, playoff-less season, the Chiefs parted ways with offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and turned toward the familiar face for the role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to see him back in the building, man,\u201d Kelce said of Bieniemy in January<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s one of my favorite coaches of all-time, one of my favorite people of all time. I\u2019ve had so many unbelievable growing moments under him as a player, as a person, and I just love the guy. And it\u2019s gonna be awesome to see him back in the building and see him back wearing the Chiefs logo, baby.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
