Armed with that platform, as well as an assortment of sensors, the wearables will focus on training and battery life, with two variations in the mix.

First, there’s the Helio Strap, a screen-free approach to health tracking that feels like it could have taken a page out of the Whoop approach, simply monitoring on the wrist, though can be placed higher up the arm during demanding exercise for more reliable readings.

It will track the assortment of things you’ve likely come to expect from health wearables, including heart-rate variability, SpO2 blood oxygen, stress, and sleep, and can work with the Zepp app and operating system to cycle through 27 sports modes as well as Hyrox functionality for those who do those extreme fitness activities.

Up to 10 days of battery life are part Helio Strap, and it only comes in one colour, with a black strap for $166.

Moving up the chain, there’s also a screen-based variation on the theme with a 45mm stainless steel design, four physical buttons, and a 1.32 inch AMOLED screen protected by Sapphire glass.

More like a smart watch of sorts, the Amazfit Active 3 Premium includes the same sort of fitness tracking and health monitoring technology, but upgrades the system to include GPS tracking for running and turn-by-turn notifications, giving it a way to be useful beyond the fitness world.

Back inside fitness, the Amazfit Active 3 Premium will also include built-in workouts and a digital coach to adapt plans based on what you do, while the watch also includes Bluetooth support to let you talk to training platforms, as well.

There’s even a little more battery life, supporting up to 12 days of life, suggesting you won’t need to reach for the charger quite as often as say an Apple Watch, which barely hits past a single day.

Priced at $239 in Australia, Amazfit is also clearly going for the value end of the market, making it closer to a third the price of Apple’s wearable, and indeed many other premium offerings, such as those from Google and Samsung, as well, all without skimping on the AI included.

“The next generation of wearable technology will not be defined by how much data a device collects, but rather how intelligently it interprets that information and helps people act on it,” said Robbie Wu, General Manager for Amazfit in the Asia-Pacific region.

“People want technology that helps explain whether they are recovered, how their sleep may be affecting performance, when to push harder and when it may be time to rest,” he said.

Both models are available in Australia now, and are compatible with both iPhone and Android.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1600" height="1004"
