Laurie Daley<\/a> is officially set to step away from his role as NSW Blues<\/a> coach – and the news was confirmed by a Queensland<\/a> legend. <\/p>\n

The coach\u2019s future had been the topic of much debate both during and after the State of Origin<\/a> series, which saw the Blues produce a stunning upset.<\/p>\n

But according to Paul Vautin<\/a>, the 56-year-old has finished his second tenure in charge and will not coach NSW next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe told me the other day he\u2019s not doing it,\u201d Vautin told the Fanatics podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was really happy. He is one of the champions on earth as a person. Great fella and to see him win that and virtually go like this (up yours) to all his critics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nine\u2019s Danny Weidler reports that Daley is yet to inform NSWRL officials of his decision, but an announcement is expected soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be an absolute shock if he actually was gonna coach NSW next year, everybody is expecting Laurie Daley to quit,\u201d Weidler said on 9News Sydney.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke to Dave Trodden just five minutes ago and he has had no suggestion that Laurie Daley has quit as Blues coach, so maybe a little bit premature.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is expecting Laurie Daley to quit his position in the near future and he will probably announce it on his own breakfast radio show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Daley led the Blues from 2013-2017 before his second stint at the helm.<\/p>\n
