Australia Post\u00a0has\u00a0broken\u00a0ground on its $500 million Parcel Super Hub in Adelaide.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0ground breaking\u00a0ceremony was attended by\u00a0the Hon. Nick Champion Acting Deputy Premier South Australia, Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Housing Infrastructure, and Pelligra Group\u00a0Chairman, Ross Pelligra,\u00a0marking a major milestone in its largest-ever investment in South Australia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Located at the former Holden site in Elizabeth, the new\u00a083,000 sqm\u00a0facility \u2013 equivalent to 12 Adelaide Ovals \u2013 will bring fresh life to the iconic site with a next-generation Parcel Hub,\u00a0<\/p>\n

representing\u00a0a major investment in South Australia\u2019s future and supporting deliveries across\u00a0metropolitan and regional communities for decades to come.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Super Hub is planned to be\u00a0operational in late 2028,\u00a0when it\u00a0will be the first fully combined\u00a0Australia Post and StarTrack facility with the capability of processing up to 400,000 parcels per\u00a0day, doubling the current capacity of Australia Post\u2019s Adelaide Airport Parcel Facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The facility will use advanced technology, including autonomous vehicles and robotic pallet\u00a0movers, to reduce manual handling and improve team member safety. These robotic systems will\u00a0help move pallets,\u00a0cages\u00a0and containers between loading,\u00a0sorting\u00a0and storage areas and\u00a0assist\u00a0team members with the induction of parcels into the sortation system for faster processing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Australia Post Executive General Manager Network Operations,\u00a0Shane Plant,\u00a0said: \u201cThis facility will\u00a0be the blueprint for our most technically advanced facilities,\u00a0providing\u00a0greater opportunities for\u00a0team members\u00a0to upskill technically,\u00a0operationally\u00a0and digitally.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll\u00a0be looking for roles that\u00a0support automation and controls, mechanical and\u00a0electrical\u00a0and those that can work alongside\u00a0robotic systems as we continue to\u00a0modernise\u00a0our network.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
