This is because the Miami Heat were already winners of the offseason by landing Giannis Antetokounmpo.<\/p>\n<p>After years of rumors and mutual interest, the Heat finally wheel in their long anticipated whale at the heart of his prime. Antetokounmpo is 31 years old and still has the talent for several elite seasons remaining in the tank\u2014 setting Miami up for a potential five-year championship window to build around their newest superstar. <\/p>\n<p>The former multi-time league MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and 2021 Finals MVP will join forces with Heat captain Bam Adebayo. On paper, those two will be forming one of the most dominant two-way pairings in NBA history. <\/p>\n<p>Giannis is the Heat\u2019s biggest acquisition since prime LeBron James in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Each of them are one of the league\u2019s premier defensive players, and Adebayo has publicly expressed his excitement in getting an opportunity to put it all together one the floor with a top-five player in the world alongside Antetokounmpo. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, everybody seen the battles we had. We got the same agent and talked about like, what if it would happen? And now we\u2019re to this point. So, I\u2019m excited for the season. I\u2019m excited to be his teammate. I\u2019m excited for the city of Miami, and the energy we gained. We\u2019re looking to take that into the season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bam Adebayo (via Anthony Chiang\/Miami Herald)<\/p>\n<p>The blockbuster trade felt like a fresh of breath air for this organization. They have been in desperate need of some significant change, most notably by bringing in the next 1A superstar to help lead the way. <\/p>\n<p>Antetokounmpo is coming off a 2025-26 season averaging nearly 28 points per game to go along with 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists on absurd 62.4% shooting.<\/p>\n<p>With Adebayo just recently turning 29 years old, it was necessary to maximize his best upcoming years of his career.
