The IndyCar Series has unveiled its new car, which will be used starting from the 2028 season.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
The series has a clear goal with the design of the new cars: racing should be faster and better, but above all, safer. The plan is for drivers to be able to break track records with this car.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
To achieve those goals, various details were carefully examined. For example, the new car will be significantly lighter (100 pounds, or about 45 kilograms lighter), will feature a new design for the front and rear wings, and is specifically engineered to optimise overtaking opportunities.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
It was previously announced that the new cars for 2028 will be powered by a 2.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 internal combustion engine capable of delivering up to 760hp.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Honda and Chevrolet will continue to be involved as engine suppliers.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
The aeroscreen is also lighter, sleeker, and more aerodynamic – features that also enhance safety.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Finally, the new cars will be equipped with electronically controlled anti-roll bars, also with safety in mind.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
The car will undergo testing in the coming months before it is introduced starting in the 2028 season.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
