Very few people can claim to be having a better decade than Michael B. Jordan<\/a>. Already one of Hollywood\u2019s favorite rising movie stars at the beginning of the 2020s, he has recently established himself as both a highly capable blockbuster director (\u201cCreed III\u201d) and an Oscar-winning actor (\u201cSinners\u201d). For his next film<\/a> effort, he\u2019s combining the two disciplines to reimagine one of the most beloved heist movies in cinema history<\/a>: \u201cThe Thomas Crown Affair<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

Jordan directs himself as the titular art thief who becomes romantically involved with an insurance investigator hired to look into his heists. The character was introduced in the original 1968 film, directed by Norman Jewison and written by Alan R. Trustman, in which he was memorably portrayed by Steve McQueen. <\/p>\n

The character returned in John McTiernan\u2019s 1999 remake, with Pierce Brosnan taking up the mantle. While the subject matter shifted from bank robberies to art heists, the essence of the character as an effortlessly cool, independent wealthy titan of industry who stole for the thrill of it remained the same. Now, it\u2019s time for Jordan to put his own spin on the character.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Thomas Crown Affair\u201d remake is written by Drew Pearce. In addition to Jordan, the cast also includes Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, and Danai Gurira.<\/p>\n

Jordan has been linked to \u201cThe Thomas Crown Affair\u201d for over a decade now. He was first cast in a remake<\/a> of the film for MGM in 2016, fresh off the success of the original \u201cCreed.\u201d The project has involved considerably since then, with MGM being acquired by Amazon and Jordan becoming attached as director as well.<\/p>\n

Amazon clearly sees \u201cThe Thomas Crown Affair\u201d as one of its biggest releases of 2027. The film has been given a similar March release slot to \u201cProject Hail Mary,\u201d and Jordan was one of the centerpieces of the studio\u2019s flashy CinemaCon presentation<\/a>. It\u2019s very possible that Jordan ends up carrying the studio to the kind of runaway box office success that Ryan Gosling and Rocky brought in 2026.<\/p>\n

An Amazon MGM release, \u201cThe Thomas Crown Affair\u201d is currently set to open in theaters on March 5, 2027.
