From Stefano Domenicali revealing F1 wanted to adjust rules further to suit Max Verstappen<\/a>‘s liking, to Honda’s new power unit roaring for the first time in Hungary, here are the main stories from today, July 29. F1 wanted further rule changes for Verstappen<\/p>\n

It was previously announced that the engine regulations will be adjusted from 2027, with the aim of reducing the role of energy management during Grands Prix.<\/p>\n

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali though has stated that Formula 1 wanted to make further changes<\/a>, to a point that even Verstappen would have approved.<\/p>\n

The changes that were ultimately approved did not go as far as Formula 1 had in mind. He explained that the commercial rights holder wanted the rules to go further, but was dependent on the approval of the teams, manufacturers and the FIA.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know very well that we wanted to be even more aggressive on that, but that was what the teams accepted,\u201d the F1 CEO said answering GPblog’s question.<\/p>\n

Domenicali also believes those additional changes would have gone down well with Verstappen. \u201cI think Max would have been very happy with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Fernando Alonso<\/a>‘s 45th birthday, Aston Martin<\/a> tested Honda’s updated power unit <\/a>at the Hungaroring today as part of a filming day.<\/p>\n

After taking part in the Pirelli tyre test at the Hungaroring a day ago, Aston Martin is completing a filming day at the circuit near Budapest today, as GPblog previously reported.<\/p>\n

Honda’s Trackside General Manager and Chief Engineer, Shintaro Orihara, previously explained that they are planning to use this updated PU package for the first time during a Grand Prix weekend at Zandvoort.<\/p>\n

“Our target is the Netherlands. So we are working hard to complete our job list to achieve bringing new power into the Netherlands. That is our target.”<\/p>\n
