Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said there were positive signs in achieving Australia\u2019s Closing the Gap targets despite only four of 19 being on track for the 2031 deadline, according to the latest report.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have got record investment in areas such as health, education, with proper schools funding, the remote housing program, remote jobs and training that we\u2019re rolling out across remote Australia, including that area that we doubled in our last budget, we\u2019ll continue to work,\u201d Albanese told ABC\u2019s News Breakfast.<\/p>\n
The four targets on track related to early childhood education, economic participation, and land and waters that were subject to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people\u2019s rights or interest.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are some positive signs, including in early education, which is critical. We want all Australians to have access to opportunity, and we\u2019re working closely with state and territory governments. The targets are due to be met, of course, by 2031.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we have intergenerational issues.
