{"id":833044,"date":"2026-07-30T08:24:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T08:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/833044\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T08:24:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T08:24:09","slug":"victorian-traffic-vehicle-data-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/833044\/","title":{"rendered":"Victorian traffic, vehicle data now available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"335\" width=\"476\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/iStock-2155670397_625x442.jpg\" alt=\"Cars on a divided highway\" class=\"wp-image-47157\"  \/>Image credit: \u00a9iStock.com\/Sergey Strelkov<\/p>\n<p>Newly released data provides insights into vehicle movements right across Victoria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geospatial experts whose work involves analysing traffic patterns, will welcome the release of new data from the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/discover.data.vic.gov.au\/dataset\/telemetry-traffic-counts-and-classification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Telemetry Traffic Counts and Vehicle Classification<\/a> dataset was released a few days ago, and holds a wealth of information for planners, analysts and developers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the DTP, the new dataset \u201cprovides aggregated vehicle counts collected from telemetry-enabled traffic monitoring locations across Victoria, offering valuable insights into traffic volumes, travel patterns and vehicle movements on the road network\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As well as traffic count information, the dataset also provides data on:<\/p>\n<p>Journey data and time<\/p>\n<p>Travel direction<\/p>\n<p>Vehicle classification<\/p>\n<p>Vehicle speed<\/p>\n<p>Location<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the DTP, the data will be of use for researchers, transport planners, business analysts and land developers who are involved in:<\/p>\n<p>Understanding traffic volumes and trends across Victoria<\/p>\n<p>Monitoring the movement of different vehicle types<\/p>\n<p>Supporting transport planning and infrastructure investment decisions<\/p>\n<p>Conducting research into road network performance and travel behaviour<\/p>\n<p>Developing data-driven products, services and visualisations<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dataset spans vehicle movements from right across Victoria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Image credit: \u00a9iStock.com\/Sergey Strelkov Newly released data provides insights into vehicle movements right across Victoria.
