Despite what may have been insinuated on social media<\/a>, the 11th Fast and Furious film has not yet started filming. After years of delays<\/a> it has a title, Fast Forever, and a release date<\/a>, March 17, 2028, but that\u2019s it. And almost everyone involved is as frustrated as fans are that it has taken this long to even get to this point.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sucks,\u201d Fast X star Jason Momoa told io9 earlier this summer<\/a> when asked about the delay. \u201cI heard it\u2019s coming back. I think everything\u2019s happening. I won\u2019t say much about that, but I know it\u2019s all happening. And I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019ll be in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the 2023 film, Momoa\u2019s character, Dante Reyes, is eventually revealed to be working with the covert agent Aimes, played by Alan Ritchson. And, in a new interview, Ritchson echoed his co-star\u2019s sentiments while also offering a bit more perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know a lot,\u201d the Reacher star said on Happy Sad Confused<\/a>. \u201cWe have conversations all the time\u2026 But there\u2019s just a lot of obstacles. It\u2019s expensive to make that; it\u2019s too expensive to make those. It just doesn\u2019t make a ton of sense. There\u2019s a more efficient way to shoot those [movies].\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has to be a way to show restraint while also honoring the fact that this world has expanded to something humongous,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat gets very difficult. Now, we\u2019re at the crossroads of something very hard to figure out, and everybody\u2019s figuring it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Which all sounds very, very pessimistic for a film with a release date, but Ritchson did eventually say he thinks it\u2019ll work out. \u201cI think there\u2019s going to be another one. I think it\u2019s going to be great. And it\u2019s just a matter of solving some big problems, very real problems.\u201d Watch the segment here:<\/p>\n

As the film is still a little under two years away, production wouldn\u2019t really have to start until early next year. So there is still a lot of time to work everything out. But, after the critical and financial failure of Fast X, Universal and the team behind the movie know it needs another Fast Five-sized hit to warrant the cost. Or, the whole thing has to be dialed way, way down.<\/p>\n
