Spider-Man: Brand New Day spoilers follow.

Where Spider-Man fans previously wanted to know if Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were in Spider-Man: No Way Home ahead of its release, now they want to know just who Sadie Sink plays in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Her role has been kept so secret that Sink has barely been seen in the trailers, although some fans thought a cloaked figure in one of the trailers was (probably) Sink’s character. Director Destin Daniel Cretton has promised fans that there’s a “very real reason” for the secrecy and that they won’t be “mad at it”.

That remains to be seen, but now that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung into UK cinemas, the answer is out there. There’s every chance you want to remain spoiler-free, but if that was the case, you’re in the wrong article.

But if you do just want to know who Sadie Sink is playing before seeing the new movie, we have the answer for you.

Seriously though, if you’re avoiding spoilers, DON’T READ ON.

Who is Sadie Sink playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Still here? Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

It probably won’t come as a surprise to learn that Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

That said, the movie takes a while to reveal her identity (it doesn’t happen until over an hour in) – or even show her face, for that matter.

Early on, we see her powers of mind control when a tank crashes into a Department of Damage Control facility, which sets Peter on her trail. When he starts interfering, Jean breaks into his apartment and reads his letter to MJ, threatening her safety if Peter doesn’t leave Jean alone.

She even takes over MJ and tricks Peter into thinking that MJ remembers him, but it’s after this that Jean makes her first error, allowing her face to be spotted on camera. Peter starts to track her and uncovers her identity as Jean Elaine Grey.

Sony Pictures

Jean’s powers in Spider-Man: Brand New Day are much the same as we know from the comics, and the film also introduces a backstory involving her sister Sara (played by Olivia Booth-Ford), which ends up proving critical to the final act.

Truthfully, Jean’s reveal is relatively low-key, so we’re not entirely sure it even needed all the secrecy ahead of release. But at least we can now start enjoying the speculation on what this means for Jean Grey and her future fellow X-Men in the MCU.
