Ferrari<\/a>\u2019s first battery-electric model, the Luce<\/a>, has seen reported demand in China, with media reports indicating that new customer orders have moved into 2027 production schedules while the automaker\u2019s reported global 2026 allocation has already been filled.<\/p>\n

A Financial Times<\/a> report published on July 29, citing unnamed sources, said Ferrari\u2019s planned 2026 production volume of fewer than 500 Luce vehicles had been allocated within two months of the model\u2019s May debut. On July 30, Chinese outlet Sina<\/a>, citing domestic media reports, reported that China market orders for the Luce had exceeded 500 units, although Ferrari has not confirmed the figure or provided a regional sales breakdown.<\/p>\n

China becomes an early focus market<\/p>\n

Ferrari held the Luce\u2019s Asian premiere in Shanghai on June 26 and announced a starting price of 3,988,000 yuan (580,000 USD) for the Chinese market, excluding optional equipment, registration costs and local fees.<\/p>\n

In Europe, the Luce starts at \u20ac550,000<\/a> (630,000 USD) before taxes and options. The lower nominal price in China reflects regional pricing differences and EV-related tax treatment rather than a stated strategy targeting local competitors.<\/p>\n

Field investigations reported<\/a> that authorised retailers were requesting non-refundable deposits of 400,000 to 500,000 yuan (58,000 to 73,000 USD), with newly placed orders reportedly quoted for delivery in the third quarter of 2027.<\/p>\n

A red Ferrari Luce was also photographed on public roads in downtown Guangzhou. Multiple images shared by Chinese automotive Weibo blogger Sun Shaojun show the vehicle being transported through the city, in contrast to Ferrari\u2019s official promotional materials.<\/p>\n

Early \u201c88-unit sellout\u201d reports require clarification<\/p>\n

Following the Shanghai debut, several Chinese media reports claimed that an initial allocation of 88 Luce units<\/a> had been reserved within 72 hours.<\/p>\n

However, field investigations reported by Jiemian News found that the 88-unit figure referred to dealer allocation quotas rather than confirmed customer deliveries linked to individual production vehicles. The exact number of completed customer contracts has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n

As of late July, investigators also reported that Ferrari dealerships in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen did not have production Luce vehicles available for customer test drives. Only engineering prototype roadshow units were reportedly circulating.<\/p>\n

Specifications confirmed<\/p>\n

Ferrari equips the Luce with an 800V electrical architecture, a 122 kWh battery pack with 115 kWh usable capacity, and a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 772 kW (1,035 hp) and 990 Nm of torque.<\/p>\n

Ferrari claims the model accelerates from 0\u2013100 km\/h in 2.5 seconds, reaches 310 km\/h, achieves a WLTP range of 530 km, supports 350 kW DC charging, and completes a 10\u201380% charge in around 23 minutes. These figures remain manufacturer claims pending independent testing.<\/p>\n

The Luce imitates internal-combustion engine noises based on information from motor vibrations.<\/p>\n

Ferrari has denied speculation that Luce purchases are required to gain access to future limited-production V12 models, stating there is no mandatory tie-in sales policy.<\/p>\n

The company has set a long-term target of producing around 2,500 Luce units through 2030, representing a small share of Ferrari\u2019s overall production. While reports indicate significant early demand from China, Ferrari has not released official regional sales or delivery data.<\/p>\n
