Poland is reeling after a concerning development on NATO soil, hours after Ukraine\u2019s leader met with Donald Trump in the US.<\/p>\n

A missile crashed deep inside the country\u2019s borders after Vladimir Putin unleashed one of Russia\u2019s biggest long-range attacks on Ukraine in months.<\/p>\n

The country\u2019s prime minister has said it \u201clooked like\u201d a Russian missile had crashed into a Polish field amid an attack on Ukraine. Although Donald Tusk said there was \u201cno reason\u201d to think Poland was the intended target. <\/p>\n

At least seven people were killed in the attack on western Ukraine, close to Poland, including two children.<\/p>\n

The attack has seriously amplified security concerns along NATO\u2019s eastern border.<\/p>\n

It came as Anthony Fauci, perhaps the world\u2019s most famous scientist when it came to the Covid pandemic response, was eviscerated to his face by Republican politicians in a Senate hearing on Wednesday, US time. <\/p>\n

Some Republicans have long wanted to blame Dr Fauci, and even jail him, for what they see as the US government\u2019s heavy handed responses to Covid. That\u2019s despite Dr Fauci serving under Donald Trump. Joe Biden pre-emptively pardoned the immunologist.<\/p>\n

But Republican Rand Paul, who led the hearing on Wednesday, US time, said if Dr Fauci lied to the senators \u201chis pre-emptive pardon won\u2019t cover him\u201d. <\/p>\n

So Dr Fauci refused to answer almost all the questions posed \u2013 111 times.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Paul\u2019s \u201cobsession\u201d with him was \u201cunhinged\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mr Trump has threatened to \u201cbeat the f**king s**t out of\u201d Iran after what the US said was an attempted \u201csurprise attack\u201d on Tuesday evening, local time. <\/p>\n
