LeBron James’ business manager, Maverick Carter, pushed back on reporting Thursday that the Philadelphia 76ers star is producing a documentary akin to The Last Dance, which chronicled the end of Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Chicago Bulls. <\/p>\n
“We are NOT doing anything like the “last dance” LeBron doesn’t even know when his last season is,” Carter posted on X. The message was reposted on James’ timeline<\/a>.<\/p>\n Andrew Marchand<\/a> of The Athletic initially reported that James and ESPN are close to reaching an agreement on a documentary series following his 76ers tenure similar to Jordan’s The Last Dance.<\/p>\n Per Marchand, talks between both sides are at the “one-yard line” and James is expected to have a camera crew documenting his tenure in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n The Last Dance was previously released in 2020, chronicling the\u00a0Chicago Bulls\u00a0dynasty of the 1990s with a particular focus on Jordan’s last year with the organization during the 1997-98 season.<\/p>\n As for James, he signed<\/a> a two-year contract with the 76ers on Friday.<\/p>\n The 22-time All-Star has spent the past eight years with the Los Angeles Lakers, but\u00a0informed<\/a>\u00a0the organization that he planned to play elsewhere during his 2026-27 campaign on June 30.<\/p>\n Several teams were\u00a0reportedly<\/a>\u00a0interested in James as a free agent including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves.<\/p>\n He ultimately joined a 76ers squad that has put together a busy offseason, previously acquiring five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown in a July 1\u00a0trade<\/a>\u00a0with the Boston Celtics.<\/p>\n James will be turning 42 years old next season, but the four-time MVP might not retire in 2027. James’ agent, Rich Paul, suggested that his client could stay in the NBA for multiple seasons after signing with his new team.<\/p>\n
