{"id":834883,"date":"2026-07-31T04:15:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T04:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/834883\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T04:15:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T04:15:14","slug":"ambrose-to-return-to-scene-of-first-ever-car-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/834883\/","title":{"rendered":"Ambrose to return to scene of first ever car race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TWO-TIME V8 Supercars champion and NASCAR Cup Series race winner Marcos Ambrose will return to the circuit where he began his motorsport career later this year, as patron of the upcoming Baskerville Historics event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be held at the historic Baskerville Raceway in Hobart, Tasmania from October 16-18, Baskerville Historics is one of Australia\u2019s continually growing historic motorsport events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ambrose, an inductee of both the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame and Tasmanian Motorsport Hall of Fame \u2013 among other honours \u2013 was announced as the event\u2019s patron at a launch event in Hobart on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Launceston-born Ambrose began his motorsport career at Baskerville in 1995, when he drove his father Ross\u2019 Nissan R32 GT-R in a club level event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That outing allowed Ambrose to obtain the requisite CAMS licence to compete in the Australian Formula Ford Championship in 1996 and was the only time he raced a car in Tasmania until the V8 Supercars Championship Series returned to Symmons Plains Raceway in 2004.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-subscription?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/sleuth-mag-subscription.jpg\"\/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026071-Sierra-Group-A-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-260713\"  \/>An impressive line-up of Heritage Touring Cars, such as Terry Lawlor\u2019s ex-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-250-Dick-Johnson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dick Johnson<\/a> Shell Sierra, will descend on the Baskerville Historics event.
