Anthony Seibold<\/a> has put pen to paper on a deal to return to coaching in the NRL<\/a>, signing on as an assistant with the PNG Chiefs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seibold, who was sacked as head coach of the Manly Sea Eagles<\/a> in March, was spotted travelling to Port Moresby last week to take a tour of the facilities that will now be his workplace, operating under Willie Peters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seibold\u2019s experience as a head coach in the NRL will be a significant benefit for the Chiefs, who have a host of big names already signed on to play for the team. The likes of Jarome Luai<\/a>, Alex Johnston<\/a> and Zac Lomax<\/a> headline that roster. <\/p>\n

Better yet, Seibold has previous experience working alongside Peters and PNG\u2019s other assistant coach Luke Burt, having all done a stint together at South Sydney<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seibold is looking forward to reuniting with some familiar faces in PNG. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to working with Willie Peters and supporting the vision that this club has,\u201d he said via a club statement on Friday. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chiefs are building something special with strong values and great people, and I\u2019m excited to play my part in helping them succeed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe chance to make a positive impact on players, staff and the wider community was a big reason I wanted to join the Chiefs. Success on the field is important, but building something that inspires people across Papua New Guinea is just as meaningful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chiefs general manager of football Michael Chammas recognised how beneficial the experience of Seibold will be for the expansion team come time for their entry into the competition in 2028.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really excited about Anthony joining our coaching staff and believe that he will add a great deal to the playing group and football department as a whole,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cHis experience in numerous roles across rugby league is a great benefit to us, and his time as a head coach in particular will help him be a trusted advisor to Willie. <\/p>\n
