It\u2019s been more than 20 years since Darwin last hosted a Test cricket match \u2013 and Hot100 Breakfast duo Sam and Ant are determined to ensure the Top End never has to wait that long again.<\/p>\n
As Australia prepares to take on Bangladesh in Darwin on August 13th, the boys are on a mission to make history.<\/p>\n
You\u2019ve heard of the The Richies cheer squad? Well, you\u2019re about to meet The Weathers.<\/p>\n
Sam and Ant are campaigning hard to get everybody in the stands at TIO Stadium dressed up as Jake Weatherald, Australia\u2019s first-ever Darwin born and bred Test cricketer.<\/p>\n
And they\u2019ve got the perfect Jake Weatherald starter kit all sorted: All cricket fans need on the day is a bald cap, a sleeve tatt and an earring.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Australia sees this, it\u2019s not going to take another 20 years for a Test match to come to the Top End,\u201d said Sam and Ant, who\u2019ve been busy drumming up support in the lead up to next month\u2019s Test match, talking to Jake\u2019s former cricket team mates and school teachers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re recruiting a lot of people \u2013 we\u2019ve spoken to the great Nathan Lyon. We\u2019ve got Jake Weatherald. He\u2019s on board.\u201d<\/p>\n
They\u2019ve even organised a special chant for the day as well: a fun twist on a classic Crowded House song. <\/p>\n
Yep, you guessed it: Everywhere you go, always take the Weathers with you.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs he walks out, ideally the whole stadium will sing with us. But we\u2019ll definitely be singing our guts out.\u201d<\/p>\n
