\u201cThere has been a lot of pushback in that area, and how the industry responds to the allegations about Jared Leto will tell us where the industry \u2013 both music and film \u2013 stands when serious allegations are made against one of their most powerful people.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the Masters of the Universe actor gave a statement after the film was released, Sartenaer said he and his team had failed to respond directly to the allegations, despite being given more than two weeks to do so, and didn\u2019t share his eventual denial with the documentary team.<\/p>\n
She went on to praise the bravery of the women who shared their stories, including those who were underage during their alleged encounters with the Kings and Queens hitmaker.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cThe courage of the women who have come forward for this investigation is just immeasurable, coming up against a very powerful man like Leto.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do think what they have done will empower many other women to speak their truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the documentary, one woman claimed she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17, while another accused the Dallas Buyers Club actor of threatening her with sexual assault when she was unexpectedly left alone with him in a hotel room at the age of 19.<\/p>\n
A third, identified in the programme as Clara, alleged Leto had \u201cshrugged off\u201d a conversation about the age of consent being 18 in California when he had sex with her at the age of 17, and claimed he asked her to call him \u201cdaddy\u201d while pretending to be a \u201clittle girl\u201d or \u201cmy little girl\u201d.<\/p>\n
A fourth woman claimed he had groomed her, using his celebrity status to make repeated sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16, and suggested at least once that they should have sex.<\/p>\n
Leto has denied the allegations.<\/p>\n
He said in a statement: \u201cI have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life.
