{"id":835508,"date":"2026-07-31T11:29:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T11:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/835508\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T11:29:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T11:29:19","slug":"the-bathurst-top-10-finisher-that-landed-on-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/835508\/","title":{"rendered":"The Bathurst top 10 finisher that landed on Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lightly raced V8 Supercar with notable history has emerged for sale in low key fashion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ford Falcon BF Chassis WPS 018, the only car to have been built up in-house by WPS Racing, has recently surfaced in New Zealand on Facebook Marketplace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently priced for sale at NZD$100,000 (AUD$83,673 at time of writing), the car\u2019s Marketplace listing reveals little background beyond the fact it is \u2018ex-Max Wilson\u2026 from 2007.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">V8 Sleuth can confirm this car is indeed the chassis predominantly driven by Wilson, the Brazilian former Champ Car racer and Formula 1 test driver, as the #8 WOW Sight &amp; Sound car in the latter part of the 2007 V8 Supercars Championship.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WOW-Racing-Falcon-Lead-Story-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-260723\"  \/>Max Wilson and Jason Bargwanna brought the WOW Sight &amp; Sound Falcon home seventh at Bathurst, 2007. Images: AN1 Images\/Juris Puisens<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Originally owned by 00 Motorsport, it was an unbuilt chassis purchased by WPS Racing following the closure of the Bob Forbes-owned team in 2003.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It took more than four years for this chassis to be built into a complete car, before it was finally debuted in the 2007 Sandown 500 by Wilson and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-11-Michael-Caruso\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Caruso<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2026-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026-bathurst-1000-program.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A unique design feature of this chassis was its inward positioning of the driver\u2019s seat, which also allowed the in-car rollbar adjusters to be placed between the driver\u2019s seat and door rather than the customary position to the left of the driver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WPS 018 competed in only six race meetings at championship level \u2013 all in 2007 \u2013 with the highlight being a seventh-place finish in that year\u2019s Bathurst 1000 for Wilson and Jason Bargwanna.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WOW-Racing-Falcon-Sandown-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-260725\"  \/>The unique driver\u2019s seat positioning of WPS 018 is visible in this shot at Sandown in 2007. Image: AN1 Images\/Justin Deeley<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WPS Racing shut its doors on the eve of the 2008 V8 Supercars Championship which saw this car, along with WPS\u2019 two other 00 Motorsport-built BA\/BF Falcons, transferred to Racer Industries in a shutdown sale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This chassis was run by Craig Baird in the Queensland Raceway round of the 2008 Fujitsu Series to prove its potential to possible buyers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It never raced again in V8 Supercar competition and was eventually sold to New Zealand where it was used as a ride car in the early 2010s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that time, WPS 018 was driven by then-V8 Supercar endurance driver John McIntyre, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2-Mark-Winterbottom\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Winterbottom<\/a> was also engaged to cross the Tasman and deliver passenger rides in this car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Facebook Marketplace listing of WPS 018 can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/1JVwUAzXUj\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/peter-brock-2027-square-wall-calendar?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/brock-2027-calendar-1.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A lightly raced V8 Supercar with notable history has emerged for sale in low key fashion.
