Jonas Vingegaard has already won more than most riders could ever dream of. Three Grand Tours, Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico, the Crit\u00e9rium du Dauphin\u00e9, Tour of the Basque Country, Volta a Catalunya and Tour de Pologne are all on his palmar\u00e8s.<\/p>\n
But the 29-year-old insists he\u2019s far from finished, despite chatter and rumours from analysts. After his recent Tour de France abandonment due to crashes, we kept hearing he would pack it in.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Danish outlet Feltet<\/a> on Thursday at the Tour of Denmark, Vingegaard said that\u2019s a big ole nej. The Visma-Lease a Bike rider was in his hometown of Glyng\u00f8re, where Stage 2 of the five-day stage race was starting. The town was honouring its most famous resident for his win at the Giro d\u2019Italia, completing a sweep of all three Grand Tours, something few riders have done. But he has plenty more goals in mind.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are still many races I haven\u2019t won. That\u2019s something that motivates me,\u201d Vingegaard said.<\/p>\n He pointed to this season as evidence that he\u2019s already working toward that goal.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve already started doing that this year and in previous years by trying to win races I hadn\u2019t won before. This year I\u2019ve won three races I\u2019d never won before. Hopefully next year I can ride some races that I haven\u2019t won yet,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Goals for 2027?<\/p>\n Vingegaard has previously spoken about wanting to collect as many of cycling\u2019s major one-week WorldTour stage races as possible. That is a challenge few riders have come close to completing.<\/p>\n Although his rival and pal, Tadej Poga\u010dar, is getting there. This year the Slovenian did major stage races he hadn\u2019t up to this point, and the Dane thinks he might have a go at winning them too.<\/p>\n Among the traditional week-long races, the Danish rider has yet to win the Tour de Romandie or the Tour de Suisse. Those two tough races are a couple of events he\u2019d like to add to his resume. But just Pogi\u2019s programme this year, it would mean changing up his schedule when it comes to prepping for the Tour.<\/p>\n Romandie falls during a period when Vingegaard has often skipped racing. He usually instead focuses on training camps at altitude. And then as far as the Tour de Suisse, it overlaps with the race he has consistently chosen: the Criterium du Dauphin\u00e9 (sorry, the Tour Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes.). He has raced Romandie only once, in 2019 but back when he was a domestique\u2013winning was not on the menu. He has never started the Tour de Suisse.<\/p>\n Looking back at his career<\/p>\n Vingegaard also chatted on just how much his career has changed since watching the Tour de France as a child.<\/p>\n \u201cI still find it hard to realize how much I\u2019ve won and how big it really is,\u201d he said. \u201cAs a kid I watched the Tour de France and saw how big it was. To be the one who has won it twice, and also won the other two Grand Tours, is difficult to fully take in.\u201d<\/p>\n Vingegaard added that he hopes to race the world championships later this season in Montreal if his fractured collarbone continues to heal as expected. His remaining race schedule has yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n The Tour of Denmark resumes Friday<\/a> with the queen stage, from Fredericia to Vejle, for a total of 202.9 km.
