Kyle Sandilands will not be reappearing on Australian Idol, saying he\u2019ll be stepping down \u201cfor the good of the brand to continue\u201d.<\/p>\n
The move is the latest in Sandilands\u2019 tumultuous 2026 which has included his falling out with former co-star Jackie O and split from KIIS FM, and following legal action and settlement.<\/p>\n
He is in the process of launching a new show, Kyle Sandilands Live, via app next month.<\/p>\n
The shock jock\u2019s decision to quit the Channel Seven staple was revealed by the Nine newspapers, which reported it was due to fears over a campaign from activist group Mad F**king Witches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose activists have attacked the potential clients for Australian Idol or the clients from last year, and has caused a problem in Channel Seven\u2019s sales team,\u201d he told the papers.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I\u2019ve told Channel Seven this morning … that I\u2019m standing down from Idol for the good of the brand to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sandilands, 55, has had two stints hosting Australian Idol. The first lasted from 2005-2009 and he returned in 2022 alongside Meghan Trainor and Amy Shark.<\/p>\n
The announcement after the show aired it\u2019s 11th season finale in April. <\/p>\n
After settling his unfair dismissal case out of court with ARN in June, Sandilands is set to launch his own paid platform half way through August. <\/p>\n
Subscribers will pay $99 to access the Kyle Sandilands Live show. <\/p>\n
The radio host\u2019s $100m contract was terminated in March after he said Jackie O was \u201coff with the fairies\u201d and \u201cunfocused\u201d. <\/p>\n
Sandilands ended up settling the case for more than $12m and has since told his side of the tale in a tell-all documentary series. <\/p>\n
The Aussie celebrity has had his fair share of emotional upheaval over the last twelve months. <\/p>\n
He recently revealed his shock brain aneurysm diagnosis in 2025 while speaking on The Debrief podcast. <\/p>\n
Sandilands said doctors were unable to operate on the aneurysm as it is located in a difficult position behind his eye. <\/p>\n
