{"id":836835,"date":"2026-08-01T01:44:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T01:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/836835\/"},"modified":"2026-08-01T01:44:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T01:44:17","slug":"supercars-analysis-the-holden-versus-ford-super2-parity-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/836835\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars analysis: The Holden versus Ford Super2 parity situation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IT\u2019S hard not to look at Super2 leaderboards in the past 18 months without pondering if something is amiss with regards to parity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fords dominated last season, and in 2026 have picked up where they left off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take yesterday, for example.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All 20 drivers in the field at Wanneroo Raceway set their fastest Friday time during Practice 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result? All eight Fords in the top nine \u2013 with Brad Jones Racing prodigy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2721-Brad-Vaughan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brad Vaughan<\/a> the sole Holden representative towards the pointy end \u2013 while each of the bottom 11 drivers were aboard Commodores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seems glaring enough.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026_Supercars_Rd8_PaceImages_25606-Social-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-260787\"  \/>Brad Vaughan has been flying the Holden flag in Super2. Pic: Supplied\/Pace Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even some people within the industry have indicated you have to be in a Gen2 Mustang to stand a chance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But digging a tiny bit deeper, that assertion doesn\u2019t really appear to pass the pub test.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For these are the exact same specification cars which raced in the main game prior to Gen3, noting that Holdens won both the championship and Bathurst 1000 in 2021 and \u201922.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They also happen to be exact same specification cars which raced in Super2 in 2023 and \u201924, where Commodores led the way (seven of the top eight in the \u201923 points, and four of the top five in \u201924).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s been no changes to those cars from when they were racing in the main series in 2022,\u201d Supercars chief motorsport officer Tim Edwards told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2026-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026-bathurst-1000-program.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe cars are as raced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, can he put his finger on why there\u2019s been a swing towards the Blue Oval? \u201cNo. And we\u2019ve looked at it at length.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edwards though reiterated: \u201cTwo years ago a Commodore won.
