Clicking on the picture will download&#10;the highest resolution version available.\" style=\"max-width:100%\"\/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p> Explanation:  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/earthsky.org\/moon-phases\/july-full-moon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Buck Moon<\/a><br \/>\nis a traditional name for the full moon of July.<\/p>\n<p>In this colorful Adriatic sea and skyscape captured on July 28 from<br \/>\nKrk Island along the coast of Croatia,<br \/>\na full Buck Moon is just rising over distant mountains.<\/p>\n<p>Since a full moon rises as the Sun sets,<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/nightsky.jpl.nasa.gov\/media\/documents\/resources\/EarthShadow3.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Earth&#8217;s shadow<\/a><br \/>\nalso rises in the twilight scene, a diffuse gray band extending above the<br \/>\nmountainous southeastern horizon.<\/p>\n<p>Above Earth&#8217;s shadow band is the pinkish<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/image-article\/apod-2006-june-15-gordel-van-venus\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">antitwilight arch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That subtly tinted band of backscattered sunlight is more widely known as the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Belt_of_Venus\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Belt of Venus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But as it shares the eastern horizon with the atmospheric<br \/>\nshadow of Earth and Belt of Venus,<br \/>\nthis full Buck Moon seems to set the stage for the New Moon to come.<\/p>\n<p>The New Moon of August 12 will cast its shadow on planet Earth in a much anticipated<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/news-release\/nasa-sets-coverage-for-august-northern-hemisphere-total-solar-eclipse\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">total solar eclipse<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Discover the cosmos!
