Hundreds of fashion fans braved the cold on Friday night as they camped outside a major Perth shopping centre to make sure they were the first to see a new activewear store opening on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Videos online show crowds of teenagers and young women rugged up in blankets and sleeping bags on the pavement outside Karrinyup Centre as they wait for Kikiva\u2019s first physical store to open.<\/p>\n
The lifestyle and activewear brand has garnered a huge following online since it was started in 2022 by Perth owner Kia Buckley, when she was just 19.<\/p>\n
Excited to reveal the brand\u2019s first ever store opening, the team behind the launch shared a video of fans being asked how long they\u2019d been queuing, with some people admitting they\u2019d been waiting for more than 12 hours.<\/p>\n
When asked what time they\u2019d arrived, two young girls sheepishly said: \u201c7.30pm.\u201d<\/p>\n
A larger group of teens, accompanied by one of the girl\u2019s mothers revealed they\u2019d been their since early Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been here since 2am. And we\u2019re number 95. We just made the first 100, we\u2019re so happy,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
The first 100 customers through the doors were promised free merchandise.<\/p>\n
A trio of excited teenagers shared they\u2019d travelled from out of the city to be one of the first to see the store.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe travelled all the way from Bunbury. We left at 3am but woke up at 2am. And I have not slept,\u201d one of the girls said.<\/p>\n
Another group thought they would be one of the first there when they arrived in the early hours of the morning, only to realise they were sorely mistaken.<\/p>\n
One of the girls said: \u201cWe got here about 5.30. We didn\u2019t think there was going to be 300 people already here.\u201d<\/p>\n
In TikToks shared online by the \u2018Kikiva community\u2019, users captured the lines outside the store before it opened at 9am on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlready over 130 people here at 5.35am,\u201d one person commented, while another fan of the brand said: \u201cWish I was in Perth for this.\u201d<\/p>\n
Others were less convinced of the queues, with one user commenting: \u201cI really don\u2019t understand this! To be waiting in the freezing cold overnight?\u201d<\/p>\n
