Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart was blunt and brief after his side\u2019s crushing 42-18 defeat to the Penrith Panthers<\/a> in Mudgee, admitting he simply didn\u2019t feel like talking to his players about it.<\/p>\n

The Raiders crossed for the first try early, but from there Penrith were at their clinical best at Glen Willow Oval. A quick double to Liam Martin kickstarted a Penrith onslaught of seven straight tries to completely blow Canberra out of the water.<\/p>\n

A win would\u2019ve seen the Green Machine move to within two points of the top eight with just five rounds to go after this weekend, but they face an uphill battle now with three of their last four matches against teams above them on the ladder.<\/p>\n

A dejected Stuart admitted their performance in Mudgee on Saturday night is something which has to be sorted out quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cA big part of that first half was just not good enough, and that\u2019s what we\u2019ve got to deal with now,\u201d coach Stuart said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got to deal with it this week\u2026 definitely wasn\u2019t good enough.. against a good football team who scored to many points in the first half.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about addressing their issues next week\u2019s clash against the high-flying Newcastle Knights by Fox League reporter Eloise Sohier, Stuart didn\u2019t exactly give a speech in response.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot being disrespectful to you, but I haven\u2019t spoken to the players yet and don\u2019t really feel like it to be honest,\u201d Stuart finished.<\/p>\n

That response bringing an end to a brief two minute press conference filled will regret and disappointment.<\/p>\n

His captain Joseph Tapine wasn\u2019t exactly in a happy mood after the loss either, admitting nothing from training during the week translated into the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just weren\u2019t competing,\u201d Tapine said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t do what we planned to do\u2026. They\u2019re a good team and we let them score way too many points.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Panthers gave themselves a perfect tune up for the next few weeks in hope of wrapping up the NRL minor premiership.<\/p>\n

Penrith head across the ditch for a blockbuster first versus second clash against the Warriors in Auckland on Friday night, before hosting the high-flying Roosters in Sydney just six days later.<\/p>\n
