The Blanchard Racing Team driver led from lights-to-flag after getting the holeshot over Aaron Love into the first turn.<\/p>\n
Ben Gomersall was third ahead of Tickford Autosports teammates Campbell Logan and Reuben Goodall.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was a little bit dirty, especially coming off three poles in a row and you don\u2019t get to have that glory again,\u201d said Dalton.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s good. You learn from. Aaron is an A-class driver. As soon as you make a mistake, a guy like that is going to compromise you.<\/p>\n
\u201cGood race. Car is awesome as usual. It\u2019s a credit to these guys. We sometimes roll out and we\u2019re not quite there. Instead of throwing a dart in the dark they just always turn it on for me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m having a lot of fun with these guys.\u201d<\/p>\n
After a relatively tame start, there were strange scenes on the second lap when the left front corner of Zak Best\u2019s Ford Mustang collapsed at high speed entering Turn 6.<\/p>\n
The Anderson Motorsport driver speared off the road and buried himself in the gravel trap.<\/p>\n
Frustrated, Best blew up deluxe as he hit his hands on the steering wheel before slamming the door.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, not to sure. Just arrived at Turn 6 and went to press the brake and the whole left front has just given way,\u201d said Best.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot too sure. There was a lot of contact at Turn 1, but it was mostly right side. A bit unsure. I think it\u2019s some kind of failure.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you\u2019re down the back it\u2019s pretty tough. We just need to qualify better tomorrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started off strong for race one for Sydney and just haven\u2019t been able to replicate it.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust needing to qualify better is our issue at the moment. Car speed hasn\u2019t been great.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
After a lengthy recovery, the race resumed with Dalton heading Love, Gomersall, Logan and Goodall.<\/p>\n
Matt Chahda found himself facing the wrong way at Turn 1 when Eggleston Motorsport\u2019s Cody Burcher got into the right rear corner of the ZB Commodore.<\/p>\n
Matt Stone Racing driver Tommy Smith speared off the road inside the final eight minutes of the race.<\/p>\n
As Chahda passed him into Turn 1, the ZB Commodore snapped loose in the braking zone and skipped across the sand trap.<\/p>\n
At the head of the field, Dalton was unchallenged. He cruised home to victory by nearly two seconds.<\/p>\n
The Super2 Series resumes on Sunday with qualifying at 9:50am AWST before Race 2 at 1:55pm AWST.<\/p>\n
