New Radicals<\/a>\u00a0have shared their first\u00a0new\u00a0original\u00a0song in 28 years in the form of \u2018One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!)\u2019 \u2013 check it out below.<\/p>\n

The group, made\u00a0up\u00a0of songwriter and singer Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois, scored a huge hit in the late \u201990s with \u2018You Get What You Give\u2019 and released only one album together, \u2018Maybe You\u2019ve Been Brainwashed Too\u2019, in 1998.<\/p>\n

Now they are back, with the new song serving as the theme song to the upcoming romantic comedy One Night Only, starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner.<\/p>\n

The piano-led pop-rock track is reminiscent of their familiar sound, and has been written by Alexander and Brisebois, alongside Nick Lashley. It was released on Friday (July\u00a031), and you can listen below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Directed by Will Gluck (Easy A,\u00a0Anyone\u00a0But\u00a0You),\u00a0One Night Only\u00a0takes place in a world where premarital sex is illegal, except for one night each\u00a0year.<\/p>\n

It follows two strangers, played by Barbaro and Turner, who meet while\u00a0attempting\u00a0to navigate the annual event. Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, Molly\u00a0Ringwald\u00a0and Nicholas Braun co-star.\u00a0It\u00a0is\u00a0released in the US\u00a0on\u00a0August 7, while the UK release date is August 28.<\/p>\n

Alexander announced New Radicals\u2019 split in 1999, one year after their only album was released. He explained at the time that he had become disillusioned with the touring and promotional demands that came with fronting the band.<\/p>\n

He went on to become a successful songwriter and producer for other artists, co-writing hits including\u00a0Sophie Ellis-Bextor<\/a>\u2018s \u2018Murder\u00a0On\u00a0The\u00a0Dancefloor\u2019,\u00a0Santana<\/a> and Michelle Branch\u2019s \u2018The Game Of Love\u2019 and \u2018Lost Stars\u2019 from the 2013 film\u00a0Begin Again, which earned an Oscar nomination.<\/p>\n

New Radicals briefly reunited in 2021 to play \u2018You Get What You Give\u2019 for Joe Biden\u2019s virtual inauguration parade<\/a>, with the song having been adopted as a campaign\u00a0anthem\u00a0by Kamala Harris\u2019 husband Doug Emhoff.<\/p>\n

In 2024,\u00a0the band also released new versions of \u2018Murder\u00a0On\u00a0The\u00a0Dancefloor\u2019 and \u2018Lost Stars\u2019<\/a>\u00a0for Harris\u2019 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n
