At one point, he retired 16 consecutive hitters.<\/p>\n<p>But on multiple occasions, he asked the grounds crew to tend to the mound near the area of his landing spot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was awful,\u201d Misiorowski said. \u201cIt was probably one of the worst mounds I\u2019ve had. It was dry. It was rock hard. \u2026 It was awful. It was bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Should we crown the Dodgers following the Skubal trade?<\/p>\n<p>Derek VanRiper and Eno Sarris<\/p>\n<p>When asked if it posed an injury risk, Misiorowski said, \u201cYeah, of course. There\u2019s always an injury risk. Anytime that there\u2019s something astray, it\u2019s always a possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Misiorowski first requested the grounds crew before he took the mound at the bottom of the third inning. In the second, he\u2019d allowed an 0-2 single to Vaughn Grissom and a two-run homer to Wade Meckler.<\/p>\n<p>Misiorowski\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7399561\/2026\/06\/26\/jacob-misiorowski-brewers-record-105-5-mph-pitch\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fastball velocity<\/a> averaged 99.6 mph Sunday, down one full mile per hour from his season average. His slider velocity was down 2.1 mph.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mound was a little slick for him,\u201d Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. \u201cI think it affected him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe (could) call attention to it right when it affects you. That\u2019s a good learning experience for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t a topic of conversation in the Brewers\u2019 clubhouse before Sunday\u2019s game, Misiorowski said, noting that, at 6-foot-7, his landing spot is further down the mound than that of many of his teammates.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not rare for Misiorowski to ask grounds crews at visiting parks to address his landing spot, given that it\u2019s anomalous.
