{"id":841651,"date":"2026-08-03T10:42:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T10:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/841651\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T10:42:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T10:42:19","slug":"sam-mitchell-re-signs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/841651\/","title":{"rendered":"Sam Mitchell re-signs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__summary\">\n                The Hawks have re-signed their AFL Senior Coach for a further three seasons.\n            <\/p>\n<p>Hawthorn is delighted to announce it has re-signed Sam Mitchell as AFL Senior Coach for a further three seasons.<\/p>\n<p>With Mitchell already contracted for 2027, this new multi-year extension ensures he will remain at the helm of the Hawks until at least the end of 2030.<\/p>\n<p>After steering the club to its first finals victory in almost a decade in 2024, Mitchell led the Hawks to within one win of a Grand Final appearance last season.<\/p>\n<p>In season 2026, Mitchell secured his side\u2019s third consecutive finals appearance during just his fifth season in charge.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the 43-year-old became just the sixth person in Hawthorn\u2019s history to coach 100 or more VFL\/AFL games.<\/p>\n<p>With 60 wins under his belt as coach, Mitchell is now just one victory away from moving into fourth place on Hawthorn\u2019s all-time coaching wins list.<\/p>\n<p>The former premiership captain\u2019s playing CV is among the game&#8217;s most renowned, boasting five Peter Crimmins Medals, four premierships, three All-Australians, and a Brownlow Medal.<\/p>\n<p>His 329 career games cemented his status as one of the game\u2019s most revered figures, earning him a spot in both the Hawthorn Hall of Fame and Australian Football Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/membership.hawthornfc.com.au\/membership\/sam-mitchell-membership-30?utm_source=app&amp;utm_medium=notification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">SAM MITCHELL LOCKED IN UNTIL 2030!
