The truth behind Kyle Sandilands\u2019 exit from Australian Idol has been revealed by a TV insider.<\/p>\n

Sandilands stunned fans when he revealed that he was walking away from Australian Idol, saying he is stepping down \u201cfor the good of the brand\u201d amid an activist campaign targeting the show\u2019s advertisers.<\/p>\n

Following his decision to quit<\/a>, it was revealed that Seven\u2019s head of unscripted content Majella Hay reportedly wanted Sandilands to stay, but that her proposal was knocked back by her superiors.<\/p>\n

\u201cKyle is a one-off individual talent. I won\u2019t say we are looking for a replacement, because no one can replace Kyle,\u201d Hay told theDaily Telegraph<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut we are now looking for a new judge who brings their own unique energy to Australian Idol.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source close to production shared that it\u2019s going to be \u201chard\u201d for the network to find a suitable replacement for the controversial star. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe was amazing when he came back. He was standing on desks, doing selfies down with the crowd,\u201d a production source said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be hard to replace him with someone with enough controversy,\u201d one insider said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they bring in Guy Sebastian or something, the panel will be too nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shock jock\u2019s decision to quit the Channel Seven staple was revealed last week, claiming it was due to fears over a campaign from activist group Mad F**king Witches.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose activists have attacked the potential clients for Australian Idol or the clients from last year, and has caused a problem in Channel Seven\u2019s sales team,\u201d he told media.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I\u2019ve told Channel Seven this morning … that I\u2019m standing down from Idol for the good of the brand to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sandilands, 55, has had two stints hosting Australian Idol. <\/p>\n

The first lasted from 2005-2009 and he returned in 2022 alongside Meghan Trainor and Amy Shark.<\/p>\n

The radio host\u2019s $100m contract was terminated in March<\/a> after he said Jackie O was \u201coff with the fairies\u201d and \u201cunfocused\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sandilands ended up settling the case for more than $12m and has since told his side of the tale in a tell-all documentary series.<\/p>\n

The Aussie celebrity has had his fair share of emotional upheaval over the last twelve months.<\/p>\n

He recently revealed his shock brain aneurysm diagnosis in 2025 while speaking on The Debrief podcast.<\/p>\n
