He has also impressed fans and media alike; the British driver is currently joint-seventh with George Russell on the Autosport readers’ driver ratings while in Autosport’s own ratings he is ninth overall.

And for a driver who will only turn 19 next Saturday, he has also shown a maturity and self-reflective state beyond his years, having calmly dealt with the pressure-cooker environment that is F1 and, in particular, the Red Bull programme. While others have wilted, Lindblad has blossomed; it is a situation where he was warned to expect the worst, yet he found it to be an entirely different experience.

“I know that’s how people see it, but I never experienced it that way,” Lindblad told Autosport about the pressure of the Red Bull junior programme which guided him to F1. “To me, it was simply a huge opportunity. I thought: ‘These people believe in me. They’re helping me reach Formula 1.’

“I never felt the pressure everyone talks about because, in my mind, it was always very straightforward. If I wasn’t fast enough, I’d be disappointed in myself. That wouldn’t be Red Bull’s fault – it would simply mean I hadn’t been good enough.

“So I never really felt under pressure. The first time I saw the Red Bull helmet, my only thought was: ‘Wow, that looks so cool.’ That was it.

Arvid Lindblad, Racing Bulls

Photo by: Andy Hone/ LAT Images via Getty Images

“The same applies now that I’m in Formula 1. Before I arrived, everyone kept telling me the pressure would be enormous. I’m sure there will be a moment when I’ll feel it too, but honestly, I haven’t so far.

“Being here is what I’ve wanted since I was five years old. I’ve spent my whole life working towards this. I’m grateful to everyone who helped me along the way, but at the end of the day, this is my dream. I’m living it for myself. So why should I feel pressure?”

That isn’t to say Lindblad hasn’t felt anything since reaching F1, as he admitted he was briefly in tears on the grid before his grand prix debut in Australia – but rather than stress as the cause it was due to realising he’d achieved a lifelong goal.

“There was one experience I’ll never forget. It was in Melbourne, at the opening race this March. Until then, I still hadn’t fully processed the fact that I was actually a Formula 1 driver. I knew it, of course, but I hadn’t truly taken it in,” Lindblad explained.

“The first time it really hit me was on the starting grid. After the national anthem, I was walking back towards the car. I’d qualified ninth and was just about to put my helmet on when Oliver Rowland [Lindblad’s racing big brother] gave me a hug and said something very simple: ‘All those years of hard work were for this moment.’

“Something happened inside me that I’d never experienced before. For one or two seconds, my whole life flashed before my eyes. I saw myself at seven years old. Then eight. I remembered dreaming about Formula 1. I remembered every difficult moment, every year I wondered whether I’d ever make it.

Arvid Lindblad, Racing Bulls

Photo by: Mario Renzi / Formula 1 via Getty Images

“I started crying. Then I stopped almost immediately because I had a race to do, but it was an emotion completely unlike anything I’d ever felt before. That was the moment I truly realised: ‘I’ve made it. I’m a Formula 1 driver.'”

The enormity of that moment is contextualised when Lindblad explains he never had a plan B once he committed to his dream of being an F1 driver – and gives a clue as to why he hasn’t felt the pressure of F1.

“No. Never,” Lindblad replies when asked if he had a plan B. “Because in my mind, plan A was always going to work. Even when I was five or six years old, I simply couldn’t picture a future where I wasn’t a Formula 1 driver.

“It wasn’t even a possibility in my head. Maybe that’s also why I never felt intimidated by expectations. A lot of people are frightened by such a huge ambition. I honestly never was.”

Having successfully adapted to life in F1, the next goal is simple: continue to impress and climb the grid. And given Max Verstappen’s Red Bull future remains a near-constant point of debate, Lindblad knows he must continue to perform to prove that he is ready if another opportunity for promotion arises.

Read Also:

We want to hear from you!

Let us know what you would like to see from us in the future.

            Take our survey

– The Autosport.com Team

Arvid Lindblad has been one of the standout performers in the first half of the 2026 Formula 1…

[572
14212,64,63,813,806,805,803,804,9107,946,85,414244
post-842119","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-motosport","tag-arvid-lindblad","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-formula-1","tag-motor","tag-motor-sports","tag-motosport","tag-motosports","tag-racing-bulls","tag-red-bull-racing","tag-sports","tag-why-lindblad-hasnu2019t-felt-the-pressure-in-f1
["GET
