<\/a><\/p>\nLeeton Golf Course has achieved its first net operating profit since Leeton Shire Council took over the management and operation of the facility in 2012.<\/p>\n
An update delivered at Council\u2019s July Ordinary Meeting confirmed that the course generated a net operating profit of $1,356 for the 2025\/26 financial year. The result outperformed initial projections, which had anticipated a budgeted operating deficit of $41,000.<\/p>\n
Player Participation and Membership Growth<\/p>\n
The financial turnaround was driven by a rise in course usage. A total of 19,404 rounds of golf were played throughout the year, marking an increase of 1,188 rounds, or 6.5 per cent, compared to the 2024\/25 period.<\/p>\n
Josh Clyne, Council\u2019s Manager Open Space & Recreation, attributed the financial performance to steady growth and course maintenance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe golf course continues to go from strength to strength, with participation increasing and membership remaining steady,\u201d Mr Clyne said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been particularly encouraging to see more young people getting involved, with five (5) additional junior memberships and two (2) additional memberships in the 18 to 29 age group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Key Drivers of the Financial Result<\/p>\n
The positive operating balance was achieved despite the full integration of utility costs into the budget for the first time.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecording the first net operating profit since Council assumed responsibility for the facility is a significant achievement, particularly as this is the first year that irrigation water consumption has been fully recognised in the operating result,\u201d Mr Clyne said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe commencement of Golf Clubhouse operations in October 2025 has also increased participation and activity at the course.\u201d<\/p>\n
Volunteer Contributions<\/p>\n
The report also detailed the impact of community involvement on the course\u2019s operations. Between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, 32 active volunteers contributed a total of 842 hours. Volunteer duties included watercourse management, mowing, slashing, tree planting, branch removal, bunker maintenance, fairway turf repairs, and weed spraying.<\/p>\n
Cr Tracey Morris acknowledged the volunteer workforce during the meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe time and effort contributed by our volunteers plays an important role in maintaining the course to such a high standard,\u201d Cr Morris said.<\/p>\n
