Benny Blanco<\/a> is opening up about the mindset that\u2019s fueled his decades-long career of pop smashes.<\/p>\n

In a new interview for Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/a>\u2019s Icons issue, the 37-year-old producer revealed that his creative instincts have always been rooted in fun and instinct.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like my mind and a 15-year-old girl\u2019s mind are very similar in what we like, musically,\u201d Benny said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just always been drawn to having fun and making stuff that makes me feel good. If it winds up being something that other people like, then that\u2019s cool to me. If it doesn\u2019t, then that\u2019s also cool to me. I think being iconic is not giving a f\u2014,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Benny has co-written or produced mega-hits including Katy Perry<\/a>\u2019s \u201cTeenage Dream,\u201d Rihanna<\/a>\u2019s \u201cDiamonds,\u201d Kesha<\/a>\u2019s \u201cTiK ToK\u201d and Maroon 5<\/a> and Christina Aguilera<\/a>\u2019s \u201cMoves Like Jagger.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we were making \u2018Teenage Dream,\u2019 we didn\u2019t know it was gonna be this iconic song people are gonna talk about forever,\u201d he admitted. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe were just making a song and having fun and getting drunk. It\u2019s not rocket science. Sometimes you happen to be in the right spot at the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n
