{"id":842962,"date":"2026-08-04T07:36:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T07:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/842962\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T07:36:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T07:36:15","slug":"supercars-silly-season-team-18s-stance-on-david-reynolds-future-for-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/842962\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars silly season: Team 18&#8217;s stance on David Reynolds&#8217; future for 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE highest profile domino in the Supercars silly season belongs to Team 18, but don\u2019t expect a decision on the identity of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1264-Anton-De Pasquale\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anton De Pasquale<\/a>\u2019s 2027 teammate any time soon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s the vibe from team principal Adrian Burgess, as eight-time race winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-5-David-Reynolds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Reynolds<\/a> again finds himself at the centre of driver market conjecture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Team 18 activated a one-year option to bring Reynolds back for this season, something which it waited until last October to formally announce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2716-Matt-Payne\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Payne<\/a> seemingly committed to seeing out the final year of his Grove Racing contract, Team 18 holds the only potential vacancy in the top half of the Supercars pitlane.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/1-18-scale-2025-supercars-championship-20-chevrolet-camaro-david-reynolds-model?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ACD18C25B_90e12ff0-230a-480a-b40c-b84de4ddca41.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aside from runner-up finishes in the 2025 Bathurst 1000 and this year at Symmons Plains, Reynolds has generally struggled to match De Pasquale in the past 18 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Team 18 is able to lure Payne across for \u201928, and re-sign De Pasquale as is expected, then there might only be a one-year window to fill Car #20 \u2013 possibly complicating any effort to recruit an external stopgap.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked after the Perth Super440, where De Pasquale collected two podiums, whether there is a timeline on the Reynolds decision, Burgess replied: \u201cNo. We\u2019re focusing on each weekend as it comes.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/RGP-2026-Bosch-PowerTools-Perth-S440-_25A5970-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-261184\"  \/>David Reynolds.
