The St. Louis Cardinals traded outfielder Lars \u2060Nootbaar to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the team announced Monday.<\/p>\n
Right-hander Daniel Eagen, left-hander Sandro Santana and a player to be named later \u200bwill head to St. \u200cLouis in \u200creturn.<\/p>\n
Eagen, 23, was ranked \u200bfifth among Diamondbacks prospects by MLB Pipeline, while the 21-year-old Santana was 26th.<\/p>\n
Nootbaar, \u206028, gives Arizona a left-handed hitter capable \u2060of playing all three outfield positions. He is batting .234 with \u200bthree home runs \u2060and 16 RBIs through 48 games this season.<\/p>\n
The California \u2060native missed \u200bthe first two months of \u200bthe season while recovering from surgery \u200bon \u200cboth heels. He returned on June 5 and posted a .306 average with a pair of homers during his \u200cfirst month back before his production declined in July.<\/p>\n
Nootbaar spent his first six major league seasons with St. Louis \u200bafter \u200bthe Cardinals selected him in the \u200beighth round of the 2018 \u2060draft. He has produced a .241 average, 61 home runs and 210 RBIs across 575 career games.<\/p>\n
He remains \u200bunder club control through the 2027 season, giving the Diamondbacks more than a short-term addition as they pursue a National League wild-card berth.<\/p>\n
