(AAP: Dan Peled)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Auld said many workers were struggling to pay their mortgages or rent after four years of receiving wage increases of 2.5 per cent, a rise he said equated to less than $1 an hour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The cost of a packet of Arnott&#8217;s biscuits varies, with some varieties retailing for as low as $1.50.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What you&#8217;ll find is these workers have to actually work overtime to make their pay packet stretch,&#8221;  Mr Auld said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Just think for the last four years they haven&#8217;t been ahead of the cost of living, and right now, we&#8217;re asking for Arnott&#8217;s to come to the table with something that will get them ahead.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Arnott&#8217;s, <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2019-07-24\/arnotts-sold-by-campbells-to-private-equity-group-kkr\/11341190\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/11341190\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">owned by private equity giant KKR<\/a>, said it had offered 9.5 per cent wage increase to workers over the next two years, but Mr Auld said &#8220;95 per cent of the workforce voted no&#8221; to that offer last week.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A man un a union red t-shirt speaks in front of a group of workers on strike\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/f0903b48d03a4c0901fc15ab0dbd90e2.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Adam Auld says Arnott&#8217;s workers want a better pay deal.
