{"id":843471,"date":"2026-08-04T18:06:18","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T18:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/843471\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T18:06:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T18:06:18","slug":"sydney-harbour-bridge-chaos-after-three-injured-in-peak-hour-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/843471\/","title":{"rendered":"Sydney Harbour Bridge chaos after three injured in peak-hour crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three people have been injured in a serious crash on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/topic\/sydney-harbour-bridge-26le\" class=\"sc-eRZcwA dNXoqI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sydney Harbour Bridge<\/a> which shut three of four northbound lanes ahead of peak hour.<\/p>\n<p>All lanes have since reopened but traffic remains heavy on the approach to the bridge and much of the inner-city road network after the collision at the city end of the bridge just after 2pm.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Road closures are in place and significant delays are expected.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2790c1d44ae4f1aae83b32d54e567586cd12093af974b1db7ab23cd668323140.jpeg\"  width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"_0b53bae146db0b62 _7475dd3391ee1518\" style=\"--text-color:var(--color-text-secondary)\">Road closures were in place and significant delays are expected.\u00a09News<\/p>\n<p>A southbound lane was also shut. <\/p>\n<p>The Transport Management Centre urged drivers to prepare significant delays. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTraffic heading towards the Harbour Bridge is heavy from the Anzac Bridge, as well as on the Cahill Expressway over Circular Quay and through the Domain Tunnel,\u201d it said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome buses heading out of the city are delayed by up to 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMotorists and bus passengers are advised to allow extra travel time until traffic conditions return to normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/3ba7d48f0d5ca367415d9559078aba1f6ada3ec9350f14b51a5e581278cb61e9.jpeg\"  width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"_0b53bae146db0b62 _7475dd3391ee1518\" style=\"--text-color:var(--color-text-secondary)\">The crash closed several northbound lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.\u00a09News<\/p>\n<p>NSW Ambulance said three people in one of the two cars was taken to hospital. <\/p>\n<p>The 72-year-old driver was taken to St Vincent\u2019s Hospital with chest injuries. <\/p>\n<p>The front seat passenger, a 76-year-old woman, was taken to the same hospital with suspect spinal injuries. <\/p>\n<p>The back seat passenger, an 88-year-old woman, was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with chest injuries. <\/p>\n<p>The driver of the other car was assessed at scene but not taken to hospital.<\/p>\n<p>NSW Police told nine.com.au it responded to reports of a crash at about 2.15pm and three people were being treated for various injuries.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation into what caused the crash is now under way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Three people have been injured in a serious crash on the Sydney Harbour Bridge which shut three of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":843472,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[43,44,41,39,42,40],"class_list":["post-843471","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-headlines","tag-headlines","tag-news","tag-top-news","tag-top-stories","tag-topnews","tag-topstories"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/843471","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=843471"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/843471\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/843472"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=843471"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=843471"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=843471"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
