Along with one extra game as interim Melbourne boss in 2022, Yze\u2019s 11 wins are the fewest of any coach through 67 games.<\/p>\n
Another tough season for the 17th-placed, injury-cruelled Tigers has prompted questions on Yze\u2019s future, despite being contracted until 2028 after signing a two-year contract extension last November. <\/p>\n
But Richmond president John O\u2019Rourke has \u201cassured\u201d Yze will coach in at least another 33 games through to 2028.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will coach to 100 games, I can assure you of that,\u201d O\u2019Rourke said on ABC radio.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re less than two years in to a significant rebuild. If you go back, it was really at the end of 2024 that we made the big decision to go deep in the draft and trade out some players.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you look at, I think four of the top six teams at the moment, they\u2019ve done a similar thing and taken four or five years to get back into contention. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo, we do have to be a bit patient, we\u2019ve had unavailability of players. But we will see and we fully expect improvement over those next two to three years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think you saw some glimpses of the younger players coming through (against West Coast). I think Adem is in a good place and understands that.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Rourke added that Richmond \u201cwon\u2019t make judgement calls\u201d on where it sits until Yze\u2019s contract runs its course.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll keep learning and fine tuning and making changes and supporting him where we can. But I think we\u2019re got to get to the end of that period before we ask if the strategy has worked or not,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
As pointed out by Fox Footy commentator Corbin Middlemas, who interviewed O\u2019Rourke on ABC, Yze\u2019s Tigers would need to win around 50 per cent of games from now for the coach to avoid having the fewest wins through 100 matches.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you look at his numbers statistically in the history of the game, no one has won fewer games in their first 67 than Adem Yze,\u201d Middlemas said on Midweek Tackle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe guy who\u2019s second, Gerald Brosnan, who coaches University. So, we\u2019ve got to go way back in the history of the game for that. <\/p>\n
\u201cIf you fast forward this 33 games and think how it goes after 100 games \u2026 for Yze to get to 25 or 26 wins, he would have to win one in every two games. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou think, gee, I don\u2019t think too many people think the Tigers are a 50-50 team over the next two years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI put that to John O\u2019Rourke on ABC radio and he clapped back very quickly.<\/p>\n
\u201cEssentially, they\u2019re backing their guy in to be able to get that 100 games. That\u2019s another 33 games from now, regardless of what the win-loss looks like.\u201d<\/p>\n
