{"id":844537,"date":"2026-08-05T15:20:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T15:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/844537\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T15:20:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T15:20:09","slug":"k-state-womens-basketball-adds-tampakou-to-2026-27-roster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/844537\/","title":{"rendered":"K-State Women\u2019s Basketball Adds Tampakou to 2026-27 Roster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MANHATTAN, Kan. \u2013 K-State women&#8217;s basketball head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kstatesports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/jeff-mittie\/2670\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"2670\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Mittie<\/a> has added another international talent to the 2026-27 roster, as center Tzoana Tampakou from Greece has signed with the Wildcats.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;We are excited to add Tzoana for the upcoming year,&#8221; stated Mittie. &#8220;She is a true center that has excellent skill around the basket with both hands and a great feel for the pick and roll and high-low game.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTampakou, a 6&#8217;5&#8243; product of Lesvos, played for Greece at the 2025 FIBA U20 Women&#8217;s EuroBasket Division B and averaged 6.0 points on a .500 field goal percentage, 7.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.3 blocks in seven games played. She ranked 11th in the event in rebounds. She tallied a double-double in her final game of the event, carding 10 points and 10 rebounds and added three assists against Slovakia.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIn the 2024 FIBA U20 Women&#8217;s EuroBasket Division B, Tampakou averaged 5.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in three games.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTampakou aided Greece to a third-place finish at the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship Division B.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe 2026-27 K-State roster will feature players from the United States, Belgium, France, Greece, Slovenia and Spain.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nK-State returns seven letterwinners for the 2026-27 season, which accounted for 74 percent of the assists, 55 percent of the points and 52 percent of the rebounds.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSeason tickets for the 2026-27 season are available to purchase now.
