Labor MP Ed Husic was hospitalised this week after his car was involved in an accident with a truck travelling on Sydney\u2019s M7 motorway.<\/p>\n

The incident happened when the Chifley MP was travelling home from his electorate office, around 6.20pm on Tuesday, according to a spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Husic was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital for assessment and treatment.<\/p>\n

He was discharged on Wednesday with minor abrasions, fractures and a concussion.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the MP said he was providing a statement to police about the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn medical advice, Mr Husic will take a short period of leave from parliamentary duties while he recovers.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Husic thanked the doctors, nurses and paramedics at Westmead Hospital for providing him with outstanding care and thanked his friends and family for their support, especially during his hospital stay.\u201d<\/p>\n

The car Labor MP Ed Husic was driving in during Tuesday\u2019s accident in Sydney<\/p>\n

Husic, the former industry minister, is expected to return to parliamentary duties soon. Parliament resumes in Canberra on Tuesday after the July winter break.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Husic was extremely grateful to walk away from the accident without more serious injury,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
