Originally hailing from the famed fight town of Flint, Michigan, Savage now bases out of the world\u2019s fight capital where he has worked out as a sparring partner for the likes of Jarrell \u2018Big Baby\u2019 Miller and former world champion Andy Ruiz.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Savage has also been handpicked to work with American crossover king Paul, and bought his first home thanks to payments gifted from his time working out with \u2018The Problem Child\u2019.<\/p>\n
Famed for his heavy hands, the aptly named Savage has won all of his 11 wins by knockout.<\/p>\n

The now 35-year-old also opened his career amid plenty of hype, and was world ranked with the WBO after just six fights.<\/p>\n
Yet apart from suffering his first career loss against Brandon Moore last year, Savage also took something of a hit following the release of a short YouTube clip that showed him being dropped by Paul in sparring.<\/p>\n
While helping the Youtuber-turned-boxer prepare for an aging Mike Tyson, Savage was clipped by a right hook that saw him briefly go down to one knee, before then rising to continue the workout. <\/p>\n
Speaking with Fox Sports Australia this week, Teremoana admitted to having no idea about the clip that quickly went viral.<\/p>\n
\u201cNah, I haven\u2019t seen that,\u201d he said with a grin. <\/p>\n
\u201cBut I do know that sparring isn\u2019t fighting. So stuff like that, it happens.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes in sparring, you can be working on something or whatever, and get hurt by someone who wouldn\u2019t normally do that against you.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhich is why I can\u2019t take anything from that clip.\u201d<\/p>\n
Soon after, Teremoana continued: \u201cOne thing I do know about Savage is that he\u2019s won all his fights by knockout, so he can definitely bang.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut from what I\u2019ve seen, he won\u2019t be able to match my speed, won\u2019t be able to match my footwork.<\/p>\n
\u201cOK, he might match my power, but you\u2019ve also got to land that punch \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked last year about the Jake Paul sparring session, Savage told FightHype with a laugh: \u201cYeah, that was me.<\/p>\n
\u201cJake come with a good right hand and I went down to my knee, then got back up. That was it.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe never dazed me. I have been dazed before but Jake never dazed me. I wasn\u2019t hurt or nothin\u2019. I went down and got back up. So it\u2019s all good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Savage also explained the benefits of working with Team Paul.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to thank Jake and his team because being in that camp, I was able to purchase my first home,\u201d he grinned.<\/p>\n
And as for being upset with said footage being leaked?<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s fair,\u201d he shrugged, \u201cbut I understand the business.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I got some clips too. I don\u2019t have the actual footage, but I got clips of fighters that I\u2019ve hurt in the gym. Almost knocked out. And it\u2019s two, maybe three guys who are top 10 in the heavyweight division.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Laughs] I don\u2019t have that footage myself. But they got the footage.\u201d<\/p>\n
Which is why Teremoana remains cautious.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause he\u2019s definitely been in with more experienced heavyweights than me,\u201d the popular Sydneysider continued this week. \u201cAnd that\u2019s what I need now myself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need to head overseas to the US, to Europe and test myself against these guys.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I have to give him credit for that.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019ll also say that the guys he\u2019s been in with, they haven\u2019t been in with me.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd they aren\u2019t me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a different kettle of fish entirely.\u201d<\/p>\n
Savage has already arrived in Australia for next Wednesday\u2019s headliners, and faced off for the first time with his Australian counterpart on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Speaking immediately afterwards, Teremoana not only talked up his latest rival, but also eventually taking on those biggest names in the sport\u2019s marquee division \u2013 including an all-Australian showdown with Justis Huni.<\/p>\n

Others on the Teremoana global hitlist include fellow Next Big Thing Moses Itauma, plus Filip Hrgovic, Daniel Dubois, even Oleksandr Usyk.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery heavyweight in the world is on my radar,\u201d Teremoana said. \u201cAt the moment, the closest to me is Savage. So he is my priority.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut when people ask if I want to fight Justis, yeah, I want to fight Justis.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that fight would fill a stadium.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I also want to fight Itauma. I want to fight Hrgovic. I want to fight Dubois. I want to fight Usyk, [Agit] Kabayel. I want to fight all of these people \u2026 but obviously I\u2019ve got to earn my way there.\u201d<\/p>\n
And it starts with Savage.<\/p>\n

Initially starring in American football, Savage didn\u2019t switch to boxing until the age of 25, fighting almost 30 times as an amateur before switching to the pro ranks and going through his first dozen fights undefeated, including two no contests.<\/p>\n
Now based out of Las Vegas, he will be looking to upset Teremoana on a card that also sees the return of Australian boxing bad boy Michael Zerafa.<\/p>\n
Fighting for the first time since his own contentious No Contest against Nikita Tszyu, \u2018Pretty Boy\u2019 throws down against Alejandro Ortiz \u2013a Venezuelan who has also earned all but one of his 26 wins by finish.<\/p>\n
