{"id":845412,"date":"2026-08-06T09:04:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T09:04:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/845412\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T09:04:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T09:04:13","slug":"garth-waldens-gwr-team-joins-mustang-cup-australia-for-sydney-sandown-2026-rounds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/845412\/","title":{"rendered":"Garth Walden&#8217;s GWR team joins Mustang Cup Australia for Sydney, Sandown 2026 rounds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE newest team to enter Mustang Cup Australia isn\u2019t exactly a new team itself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stalwart squad GWR Australia has committed to running a Dark Horse R in the final two rounds of the 2026 Ford one-make series at Sydney Motorsport Park (September 18-20) and Sandown (October 30-November 1).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A driver is to be announced in due course.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been looking at Mustang Cup closely since it started, and we felt that committing to the last two rounds at Sydney Motorsport Park and Sandown was a great opportunity to get involved,\u201d said GWR founder and director Garth Walden.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe class has a great support from Ford, and that is really appealing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/1-18-scale-ford-100-years-in-australia-special-edition-ford-mustang-model?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ACD18F25SE2.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe best one-make categories anywhere in the world are those that have heavy involvement from the car brands. You can see the effort Ford Racing has put in to make this a destination class for both young drivers and older amateurs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor the young drivers, there\u2019s the opportunity to go overseas for the Ford experience, which is great.
