Perez Hilton is \u201cable to communicate\u201d, according to a new statement released by his family, one day after the celebrity blogger appeared to self-harm during a disturbing TikTok<\/a> livestream that prompted his hospitalization.<\/p>\n

In a message<\/a> posted to Hilton\u2019s blog on Wednesday evening, his family thanked supporters for the outpouring of concern.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur family wants to once again thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, kind messages, and support for Perez,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cYour compassionate humanity during this profoundly heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family said the ordeal has been \u201cincredibly difficult and emotional\u201d, but added that they \u201cremain hopeful\u201d about Hilton\u2019s condition.<\/p>\n

Hours before that update, Hilton\u2019s team and family confirmed in a separate statement<\/a> that he is \u201creceiving medical care\u201d and his \u201cfamily\u2019s focus right now is on his well-being\u201d, while also thanking fans for their support.<\/p>\n

Hilton was taken to a hospital<\/a> late Tuesday after a TikTok live stream led many viewers to contact authorities, the Miami-Dade county sheriff\u2019s office confirmed to multiple media outlets.<\/p>\n

During the live stream, Hilton appeared to be covered in blood and was shown to be self-harming as viewers flooded the comments urging him to stop.<\/p>\n

Emergency responders were seen outside Hilton\u2019s Miami, Florida, home on Tuesday night after members of the public reported witnessing the incident on the live stream. Minutes later, Hilton\u2019s TikTok<\/a> account was suspended.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Miami-Dade sheriff\u2019s office did not identify Hilton by name but confirmed deputies responded after receiving reports of a man \u201clivestreaming acts of self-harm on social media\u201d.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office told CNN<\/a> that authorities \u201cspoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside\u201d before de-escalating the situation.<\/p>\n

Although TikTok removed the livestream, screen recordings quickly spread across platforms including X and Instagram. The circulation of the footage prompted users to encourage others to disable video autoplay and mute mentions of Hilton, while also drawing criticism of TikTok<\/a> for allowing the graphic live stream.<\/p>\n

Born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, the blogger adopted the name Perez Hilton<\/a> as a play on the hotel heiress Paris Hilton. He has long described himself as the \u201coriginal influencer\u201d, launching his celebrity gossip blog in 2004 and becoming one of the most recognizable figures during the rise of blogs and online tabloids in the early internet era.<\/p>\n
